We may not all be of the same ethnicity or of the same cultural backgrounds, but we are first
and foremost Americans. For this reason, we honor the men and women who have fought
these battles, and we humbly thank you.

Veterans Day, once known as Armistice Day, was set aside to pay tribute to those who had served America in all wars. Since these men and women ask no special thanks, we can best pay tribute to them by recognizing what they have achieved, and in joining them in their resolve to keep America strong and free.
